[ action ]
[ at dusk nearby the apartments tonight, there is a small stall, lit up by lanterns outside an in behind the curtains covering the inside. a delicious smell comes off of it, and the coast seems to be clear around the stall. as the sun sets further, the light inside illuminates the shape of a small person... or creature, judging by the tall ears on top of its head.

After all, the crows had saved her life, and if she could garner the favor of the fox spirit by leaving it offerings of food and trinkets at the shrine why wouldn't she? She'd needed as much help as she could get in this sinkhole.
But she also knew that even good things were often terrible things in disguise, and she lifted one of the flaps of the stall with one hand.]
Good evening?

So he slips out with her and catches up to her as she enters the stall.]
Hey, Mika. [He bites of the honourific like she'd told him, but it still feels a bit weird. They weren't that close, after all.]
Wow, this place sure smells good...

[Her smile is lopsided as she cocks her head at him, her ears twitching forward. Looking up at the fox spirit behind the counter, all she can do is smile a little.]
Doesn't it, though? I could smell it all the way inside, and followed it here. If there's one thing I'm willing to risk the outside for aside from supplies, it's good food.
[Her ears twitched, tail waving a little as she watched the kitsune, but lingered near the front of the stall, almost hesitant to get closer.]

His mouth drops open.]

[Mika's smile was gentle, and her tail wagged as she drew closer to the counter.]
How much is it for two bowls? It smells very good.
no subject
Ohoho. One shiny each. Extra toppings are more.

N-no we're not dating!
Sheesh...
[He scruffs his hair, then absently drops his hand to his shoulders, rubbing where the scars from Vice's harvest would have been.]
... What kind of bowls are you selling?

[Shinies, though? Mika pats herself down, sticking her hands in her pockets to see what she might have in them before rummaging in her bag. A rather shiny nut she'd found outside the hardware store, buttons off her bag might be too scuffed but they had nostalgia, a woven bracelet she'd made from twine she'd picked up here and there? No, that wasn't shiny.
Then Mika pauses, and her hands lift to her ears. She'd almost forgotten. Somehow, after four years, she'd never lost one. Gently unfastening two of the plain silver hoops from her ears, she rubs them on a corner of her shirt to buff the metal before laying them on the counter. She huffs a little, feeling a bit naked before pushing them towards the kitsune.]
Will these work?

... um, pay extra if I can get it without the tofu?

[She could only hope that she wasn't going to regret this later.]

I swear. Every time I go to a food related place with a girl, I have to pay. It's not fair.

[ she repeats the words much slower this time, like it'll sink in this way.
she takes his ring happily. ]

Hey, I did try to pay, you know.
[She turned back to the kitsune, slowly lowering herself on to the seats.]
Thank you for having us, auntie.

[Mika closes her eyes, her body visibly relaxing more than she's allowed herself to in a long time.]
Auntie, can we ask you about the town?
